The Products

For Benny, the Council of Weavers is a realisation of his deeply-held philosophy of partnership and artistic collaboration, the result of a warm and long-standing relationship with the masters of Indochinese traditional artisanship. It is a special relationship nurtured over the many years he has spent with them, understanding and appreciating their artistic heritage, culture, and exquisite skills with loom and yarn. Benny lends his experience and eye for style acquired over thirty-years as an acclaimed international fashion designer, in advising the choice of indigenous yarns, the selection of precise shades and dyes, introducing design details previously unknown to the weavers, and in fusing Indochinese 'Ikat' and supplementary weaving techniques with other styles, such as with traditional Nepalese pashminas.

The collection will initially comprise of a primary line of scarves and evergreen basic coordinates, and subsequently expand to include a wider range of hand-woven lifestyle accessories and interior fabrics. These products embody unique social, cultural and artistic meaning that redefines the luxury lifestyle experience and the experience of ownership.

The Council of Weavers also intends to showcase the exquisite hand-woven silk textiles in a gallery retail concept that presents textiles as art. Patrons are able to appreciate not only the exquisite artisanship, but also learn about the creative process and the underlying philosophies that are embodied in each article of hand-woven silk. One does not merely own a textile from the Council of Weavers collection, it becomes a part of one's life. You are invited to participate in and experience the rich culture and heritage of the Indochina region.
