The Philosophy

"Anything can spark off an idea, but for the idea to come to fruition, it has to have function. So it has to be for someone's home, a museum, or like a beautiful scarf that makes somebody feel beautiful. It does not mean anything to me if it isn't applied."

"If I'm going to dress somebody for example, that person becomes a point of focus that triggers the excitement of the creative process, a process where the form materialises around the objective."

For the Love

"When you know there is a reason for doing something, you put all your love into your work... That feeling is captured in the final product. That's why people come to me and tell me that they still wear it after so many years. That's the result of what I've intuitively put in. When the form and the function is there, that's when I get the full experience of the creative process."

"And I can't do it for myself. It's less effective if I do it for myself. I serve the function. There is no self in the process. When I am creating I am just a conduit, a part of the process."

> The Medium > Back to top
"Ideas come to me like water droplets sprayed onto a wall, millions of droplets, each full of wonder and potential. Then what I do is that I look at them and pull them out in the right sequence. This is what my creative process is like."
